With this new season of Overwatch 2 comes a new Hero, map, limited-time mode, Battle Pass, and more! So, if you're interested in the fine details, stick around as we review Overwatch 2 Season 2.

Overwatch 2 Season 2: Release Date

Overwatch 2 Season 2 officially begins on December 6, 2022.

Headlining Overwatch 2 Season 2 is a brand-new Tank Hero — Ramattra. Ramattra's claim to fame is that he can freely swap forms on the battlefield, altering his abilities and playstyle to fit any situation.

To unlock Overwatch 2 Ramattra for free, you must reach Tier 55 in the Overwatch 2 Season 2 Battle Pass. Alternatively, you can unlock Ramattra instantly by purchasing the Premium Battle Pass.

Overwatch 2 Season 2: New Map | Shambali Monastery

Season 2's new Escort map, Shambali Monastery, was once home for Zenyatta and Ramattra. Shambali Monastery serves as a place of refuge for Omnics.

Additionally, Season 2 will overhaul the Overwatch 2 maps list rotation. Rialto and Blizzard World return, with Hollywood and Watchpoint: Gibraltar rotating out. Furthermore, you can look forward to variations of Oasis and Nepal set at different times of the day.

Overwatch 2 Season 2: New Limited-Time Mode | Battle for Olympus

Overwatch 2 Season 2 will introduce a brand-new limited-time mode called Battle for Olympus. Battle for Olympus will go live on January 5, 2023, and remain until January 19.

As for what Battle for Olympus entails, Blizzard has yet to show their hand. All we know is that the Overwatch 2 Heroes will be imbued with godlike powers and that the Season 2 Skins should give us some idea of what Battle for Olympus is all about.

Overwatch 2 Season 2: Battle Pass

The Season 2 Battle Pass will follow a format similar to the first Overwatch 2 Battle Pass. You will have the option of progressing through the Free track or forking over 1,000 Overwatch Coins for the Premium Battle Pass.

Inside the Battle Pass is a slew of goodies following a Greek Mythology theme. Notably, Overwatch 2 players can look forward to Poseidon Ramattra, Hades Pharah, and, best of all, a brand-new Overwatch 2 Mythic Skin, Zeus Junker Queen. Like the Mythic Genji Skin, Zeus Junker Queen includes new customizations, weapon models, voice lines, and special effects.

And aside from the sweet cosmetics, for the duration of Season 2, the Battle Pass is the only way to unlock Ramattra.

Overwatch 2 Season 2: Limited-Time Seasonal Events

Overwatch 2 Season 2 will feature the return of two fan-favourite Seasonal Events: Winter Wonderland and Lunar New Year.

Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2022 begins on December 13 and is sure to evoke holiday cheer.

Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023 kicks off about a month later, on January 17, 2023. This go-around, we are celebrating the Year of the Rabbit.

Overwatch 2 Season 2: Free Skin Opportunities

Inside those limited-time Seasonal Events are opportunities to earn Skins for free. Blizzard claims to be making a concerted effort to give players that don't want to shell out a bunch of money a chance to collect cool cosmetic rewards, too.

By participating in Overwatch 2 Season 2's various events and completing challenges, players can get Epic Ice Queen Brigitte, Legendary Winged Victory Mercy, and Legendary Kkachi Echo entirely free.

And that's not all! Season 2 will feature in-season Overwatch 2 Twitch Drops that you can earn by watching your favourite Overwatch 2 streamers on Twitch. One of these exclusive rewards is a Legendary Ramattra Skin.

Last but not least, the Shop throughout Season 2 will showcase stunning Greek Mythology-themed Skins that you can nab for Overwatch Coins.

Overwatch 2 Season 2: Balance Changes

With the new season comes some significant balance changes to Overwatch 2's Heroes. Overwatch 2 Sojourn, in particular, has shown to be quite powerful at high levels of play but not as much so in the lower ranks. With that, Blizzard is nerfing the range of Sojourn's Rail Gun in an effort to force players to close the distance with Sojourn's mobility if they wish to deal true devastation.

Overwatch 2 Doomfist is receiving some adjustments to help him better support his team on the front lines while not drifting too far from his core Hero identity.

Finally, look out for changes to Ana, Bastion, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Mercy, and Symmetra. Blizzard has yet to detail their plans for these Heros, but rest assured, adjustments are coming in Season 2.

As you can see, Overwatch 2 Season 2 is certainly not lacking in content. Brush up on your Greek Mythology and get ready for Season 2 on December 6, 2022.
