The Pink Mercy skin, which debuted in Overwatch in 2018 as a reward for players who helped Blizzard raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, has never been seen on sale since. Now that Overwatch 2 is available, players may wonder if they can still get the Pink Mercy skin for themselves. Keep reading to learn more.
Can you still get the Pink Mercy skin in Overwatch 2?
The short answer is no! You cannot get the Pink Mercy skin in Overwatch 2, as the game developer has no plans on bringing the said skin or the related icons back.
In the Community Update 2022 thread over Blizzard forums, community manager AndyB replied to a user named Tesshin: "We have no plans to bring back the Pink Mercy skin or icons."
The comment did make many of the Overwatch 2 fans sad, as before AndyB's confirmation on the matter, they at least had hope that Pink Mercy skin may return at some point in Overwatch 2.
For a short time, the Pink Mercy skin was seen in a Prime Gaming advertisement that sparked a series of speculations that we may finally be seeing the return of the highly sought-after skin.
However, that didn't age well as soon after Overwatch 2 executive director Jared Neuss clarified in a Twitter post, saying: "Pink Mercy being shown wasn't intentional, sorry. We didn't create that particular piece, and we made sure to correct the error after we saw it."
That sparked a series of dialogues between Twitter user Bring Back Pink Mercy 2023 and Jared Neuss, where he concluded by saying: "I missed out on it the first time, so I selfishly want another shot to get it while supporting a great cause."
In the end, the latest comment came from community manager AndyB, confirming there will be no Pink Mercy skin. While it is sad that we won't see the return of highly sought-after skin, we must remember that it was a part of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation charity.
Adding the Pink Mercy skin to the game removes the exclusivity factor, especially from players who donated at least 15 USD towards this good cause.
