Overwatch 2 Lucio is one of the original support characters in the game. Overwatch 2 has a wide roster of support characters, but Lucio still stands out as one of the best. Lucio is one of the most useful support characters, as he can both heal and speed up his teammates. Here is everything you need to know about Overwatch 2 Lucio.

Lucio's abilities are quite simple, they mostly revolve around his healing and movement speed boosts. His regular fire is Sonic Amplifier, a four-shot burst from his gun. His alternate fire is called Soundwave, which fires a wide-angle shot that knocks enemies back. This makes Lucio a great choice for maps that have edges, as there are few things more satisfying than knocking an opponent off the map.

His other two regular abilities are Crossfade and Amp It Up. Crossfade can be used any time to swap between healing and speed boost. Amp It Up is used to boost the effectiveness of Lucio's currently active boost. As well as these, Lucio has a special movement ability. Wall Ride allows Lucio to skate along walls, which boosts his speed and gets him above the fight.

Lucio's ultimate ability is Sound Barrier. Lucio slams his weapon into the ground, creating a massive soundwave around him. All allies nearby get a huge chunk of overhealth, it does not last very long but for that short period of time, everyone becomes a lot tougher.

Lucio is a support character, so his primary role is healing the his teammates. Lucio is a passive healer, best used as a secondary healer alongside a hero with more direct healing, like Mercy. Lucio is a perfect partner to more direct healers, his passive healing topping up the whole group's health while the main healer focuses more on keeping them alive.

A key part of playing Lucio is making effective use of both of his boosts. Knowing when to swap between your speed boost and healing is key. Generally what you want to do is use his speed boost to get you and your teammates from your spawn point to the objective. Be conscious of where your teammates are, to make sure they can all get in on your speed boost. Once you reach the objective, swap to the health boost to heal your team.

In a fight, Lucio is no slouch. His weapon does decent damage, but he is by no means a DPS character. He can pepper tanks with shots, and use his Soundwave ability to knock enemies around. His Wall Ride is especially useful in combat. Lucio moves faster while wall riding, making him even harder to hit. Constant movement and wall riding makes Lucio a tricky target, which goes hand-in-hand with his passive healing. Stay on the move to keep the healing going.

New players coming to Overwatch 2 have to unlock many of the heroes on the roster. This is done by completing a certain number of games. Thankfully, Lucio is not one of those characters. There is a handful of characters that are unlocked from the get-go, and Lucio is one such hero. Everyone has access to Lucio, making him a great choice for new players looking to learn to play the support role.
