Cross-progression is a brand new feature to Overwatch 2, but it requires you to merge accounts. Sadly, this can be quite a convoluted process, and there are a few caveats that players should be aware of before they try and merge their Overwatch 2 accounts. So, continue reading to learn all about how to merge accounts for cross-progression in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Merge Accounts: What Is Cross-Progression

Cross-progression in Overwatch 2 means that you can earn experience and items across multiple different platforms. For example, if you play Overwatch 2 on both Nintendo Switch and PC, then you're able to earn battle pass rewards on the same account, no matter which platform you're playing on. This requires players to merge their platform accounts into one Battle.net account. While the process seems convoluted, it's actually fairly simple once you understand how to do it.

However, before you begin merging your accounts, there are a few things you should be aware of:

  • Players only have one opportunity to merge their accounts, so you should make sure that the accounts you're merging are definitely the right ones.
  • You can link accounts from Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
  • You will need a Battle.net account for account merging to work.
  • You can unlink console accounts from your Battle.net account, but there is a one-year cooldown for linking new accounts back to Battle.net.

There are two ways to merge your Overwatch 2 accounts as it can be done from either a console or a PC. It's easiest to merge accounts from a PC, so here's that method first:

  • If you don't already have one, set up a Battle.net account.
  • Log in and head to the 'Connections' tab in the settings menu.
  • Here, you will see a list of different accounts that you can connect to your Battle.net account.
  • Choose the respective account that you'd like to merge and click 'Connect'.
  • This will take you through the setup process to merge the account of your choice.
  • Now, login to Overwatch 2 on your platform of choice and ensure that you login to the same Battle.net account to complete the process.

The process for merging accounts is a little different on consoles. Here's how it's done:

  • Log in to Overwatch from your console of choice.
  • Follow the prompts on the screen until a QR code appears - scan this with your phone.
  • Follow the steps provided on your mobile device to create a Battle.net account.
  • After this, you will be prompted to verify your Battle.net account the next time you log in from your console.
  • Repeat this process on the other consoles that you'd like to merge your account with to enable cross-progression.

That's all you need to know about how to merge accounts to enable Overwatch 2 cross-progression. For more Overwatch 2 guides, keep reading GGRecon.
