Can you play Overwatch 2 split screen in couch co-op?

Many fans of Overwatch 2 will be desperate to know if you can play the game split-screen and couch co-op. It's something of a dying feature these days, but there was a time when every multiplayer game would allow for split-screen, so you and a buddy could team up. 

Overwatch 2 has had a rocky start, and has recently even been review bombed on Steam, but it is persevering after recently introducing Illari - a new support hero - as well as a PvE mode. The PvE mode has been on fans' wishlists for years, with the shorts doing all the heavy lifting for the series' compelling story.

Unfortunately, there is no way to play Overwatch 2 split-screen at this current time, with no clear plans from Blizzard to implement it in the future.

This is likely down to the positioning of the game as always online, so it would potentially prove difficult to implement any 'offline' elements into your multiplayer matches.

Furthermore, it would also be challenging to include all of the relevant UI on the split-screen, as this information is vital to your playing experience.

Will there be Overwatch 2 split-screen in PvE?

The recently released PvE modes that came alongside the Invasion season of Overwatch 2 also did not feature split-screen, despite it being a good fit. This once again feeds into the idea that Overwatch 2 is an online game, to be played with others via multiplayer.

Past iterations of PvE in Overwatch like Archives and Junkenstein's Revenge have not offered split-screen either, so it has come as no surprise it remains this way in the latest edition of the popular hero shooter.
