Overwatch 2 is here, but it’s not without its problems. The shift from free-to-play has been anything but smooth since its launch. Constant server issues, players failing to receive their unlocks for the original game, and the game suffering DDoS attacks - it’s not off to a good start.

To add to the growing mountain of issues, players are also encountering issues inviting players to their party in Overwatch 2. Unfortunately, there’s not one singular fix to rectify this, as the problem could require one of multiple solutions, depending on the error message you and your friends are receiving. But fear not, we’ve got every solution that has been discovered all in one handy place.

Overwatch 2 Player Is In A Different Version

The most common one has the simplest fix. If greeted with this error, players must simply update their version of Overwatch 2 to the latest version. This has plagued many players on day one, who failed to ensure their version was up-to-date before jumping in with their squad online.

If you need to update the game, it’s pretty simple on each platform. However, if you need a complete rundown, we’ve detailed exactly how to do so in our more detailed guide on the “player is in a different version” error in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Player Not Found Error

The other roadblock many are facing in Overwatch 2 when inviting other players is the “player not found error”. This is especially annoying when you can clearly see friends online and awaiting to join your match.

Unlike the previous problem, there is no underlying reason why this is happening, and is simply being put down to a bug - possibly caused by the server issues that have been present in the game since launch.

However, there are a few workarounds for this issue. If you happen to run into the error message, attempt any of the following:

  • Get another player in your party to invite them.
  • Invite them via the chat function.
  • Restart the game.
  • Create a new group.

At the time of writing, these are the current issues players are facing, but we’ll be sure to update this guide with any further solutions to problems if discovered.
