As you are most likely aware, Overwatch 2 launched last year and turned the popular multiplayer shooter into a free-to-play game. Tons of new players joined the fray and soon found themselves enamored with the game’s hero-based combat and seemingly endless ways of being able to play.

With Season 4 of Overwatch 2 right around the corner, it’s time for another exciting milestone, and of course, a new wave of players flocking to the game. If you’re jumping in, you may have played the game before and be subject to an account merge process. This can be long-winded and leave you wondering if anything is happening.

If you want to know how long the account merge process takes, here is how long you should be looking at.

How long does account merge take?

The first time you boot up Overwatch 2, you may be frustrated to realize you can’t just pick it up and play it - for those who played the first game anyway. Due to the game moving to a free-to-play model, but keeping all the stats and skins that came previously, players will need to merge their accounts.

Unfortunately, pinning down a direct time for how long it will take to account merge can be tricky. When Overwatch 2 first dropped, it could take upwards of three days, and even now, the process is known to take 24 hours or more.

However, the general average, according to recent players, is roughly 6 hours. This all depends on how many users are attempting to account merge at the same time, so can be much less or even longer. If you’re looking to jump into Season 4 of Overwatch 2, it may be worth starting that account merge now.
