Overwatch 2’s Halloween Terror event has just gone live, and with it comes a whole host of new content. This year, Overwatch 2 players will earn exclusive event rewards by taking part in some classic horror-inspired challenges. This event revisits the Junkenstein’s Revenge cooperative mode with plenty of extra, cheesy B-movie flair, along with chances to earn Double XP. We’ve got every spooky detail you need on Overwatch 2’s Halloween Terror event, right here.

How Long Is Overwatch 2 Halloween Terror 2022 Running For?

Confirmed with an announcement trailer released just a day prior to the event’s launch, this year’s returning Halloween Terror event will be running from Tuesday, 25 October to Tuesday, 8 November. The three-week affair will revel in the spooky season, allowing players to engage in a new, revitalised co-op experience on the Eichenwalde, and to pick up some seasonal swag to deck out their favourite heroes in some appropriate attire.

Teased just a week before launch over on Blizzard’s dedicated Overwatch 2 website with in-game lore ‘from the desk of the Lord of Aldersbrunn’, the latest iteration of the Junkenstein’s Revenge game mode will be getting a sequel, named Wrath of the Bride. Sombra, Symmetra and Winston look to be taking centre stage as antagonists, which will see players team up once more to fight both them and waves of Zomnics. Sombra, the Bride of Junkenstein, seeks to enact vengeance upon the people of Aldersbrunn, and it’s up to Junker Queen, newcomer Kiriko, Ashe and Sojourn to stop them in defence of Eichenwalde.

It also looks like Junkenstein himself will be returning for a limited time too, via the original Junkenstein’s Revenge co-op brawl mode being made available once again this Halloween. Hopefully, this means Blizzard is listening to the player base's desire for more PvE experiences and we’ll see more or similar events throughout this first year of the game’s lifecycle.

New Skins, Challenges, Charms and More

Two brand new Hero cosmetics have been confirmed for 2022’s Halloween event: Witch Kiriko and Executioner Junker Queen. These are paid cosmetics and will appear in the store alongside older skins from the game’s previous scary seasons, also available for purchase again. Halloween Terror also includes the addition of challenges for players who want to earn special rewards like a new Albersbrunn Name Card, a Jack-o'-Lantern Weapon Charm and of course, everyone’s favourite: Battle Pass XP.

Speaking of XP, promotional Double XP will be available for everyone playing over the Halloween weekend from 28 October to 31 October, in line with promises from Blizzard after a somewhat shaky start to the game’s launch. In addition to this, players who log in from October 25 through to the end of Season One will receive the Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary skin and a Health Pack Weapon Charm.

Lastly, if you’re keen on watching your favourite streamers duke it out over the haunted holidays, Twitch drops will also be available to anyone watching Overwatch 2 from October 25 on the platform. Rewards such as the 2020 Werewolf Winston Legendary Skin will be given to players with just 4 hours of watch time, while 2 hours will net you the Werewolf Winston Spray.
