If you're wondering what the average rank is in Overwatch 2, we've got a rundown on whether Blizzard has shared details on how the player base is distributed across each of its ranks.

Average rank plays an essential role in competitive games, and that's no exception in Overwatch 2, so you'll likely want to know where you stand among the rest.

It's possible to get a window into this via the game's rank distribution system, which allows you to see a percentage from the entire player base of Overwatch players in a certain rank - so here is all you need to know about the average rank in Overwatch 2.

Here is a bar chart outlining that the average rank in Overwatch 2 is the Gold rank. However, you can see in the table above that the platinum rank isn't too far behind.

Unfortunately, the table above only shows us a rough idea of how ranks are distributed, there are no figures or hard data to get exact numbers. We can just see how the different ranks compare.

In the original Overwatch, we had a much better idea of how the ranks were broken down statistically. You can see these ranks below:

  • Bronze - 8%
  • Silver - 21%
  • Gold - 32%
  • Platinum - 25%
  • Diamond - 10%
  • Master - 3%
  • Grandmaster - 1%

So just comparing these numbers, to the likely imprecise bar chart above, we can see that the majority of players have improved. Master and Grandmaster appear to have a much bigger share than the numbers appearing in Overwatch. Unfortunately, this is something of a rough science as we still don't have the exact numbers for Overwatch 2.

We will update this article if Blizzard provides official numbers regarding the rank distribution in Overwatch 2. So far, that is all there is to know about the average rank in Overwatch 2.
