Learning how to ping in Overwatch 2 is really easy and just requires a button click, but it will change depending on your platform. PC users have the option of pressing the middle mouse button or the G key, while all console users will need to press the left D-pad button. This will cause you to ping at whatever you're aiming at, sending a visual and audible alert to all teammates.

The ping system also works in a few different ways depending on how you use it, and where you're aiming. Firstly, just pinging an area in front of you may not mean much, but if you hold the ping button, you can open the radial menu which lists some specific options. These are also accompanied by a voice line and chat message, and there are eight choices here.

  • Enemy
  • Going In
  • Attacking
  • Defending
  • Watch Here
  • Fall Back
  • Need Help
  • Countdown

You can also directly look at enemies and objectives to get a contextual ping, and pinging an enemy will display their location for a few seconds. Double tapping the ping button can also be used to warn when enemies are coming. Lastly, if you want to respond to a ping, you can look at it and ping back to show you understand.

That's all the ways you can ping in Overwatch 2, and now you should be familiar with the ping system.
