Blizzard Entertainment has released plans for a set of updates after the successful Diablo 4 open beta. The Diablo 4 open beta launched across two weekends on March 17 and March 24 and saw a large rate of engagement with over 61.5 million combined hours played.

As with any successful beta, it provided developer Blizzard Entertainment with the insight needed to implement game updates before the official launch on June 6, 2023.

Following feedback and data retrieved from the early access period, Blizzard Entertainment have outlined the following areas for improvement before the official game launch on June 6, 2023. These include:

  • Cellars will now consistently reward a chest upon completion and the chance for a dungeon Event to occur has increased.
  • All character classes have received skill adjustments.
  • Multiple dungeons have had layout changes implemented to minimize the need for backtracking. There have been gameplay changes to also minimize backtracking, for example, minsters will now target players to help complete the 'Kill All Monsters' objective.
  • Dungeon Events now have an increased chance to spawn (this has increased from 10% to 60%).
  • Bosses such as T’chort, Malnok, Vhenard, have been re-evaluated for melee character difficulty, resulting in changes to attacks.
  • The Butcher has been re-evaluated for difficulty and will present a greater challenge in World Tiers III and IV.
  • Several quality-of-life fixes were implemented, and all classes now have access to crowd control breaking skills with appropriate cooldowns.
  • Various issues were fixed regarding UI including the chat now displaying on the left side of the screen and the sans serif font to be replaced with a new serif font.

Among these key fixes, Diablo 4 also went into detail on fixes per class, which can be read in its blog post here.

They have also announced a Diablo 4 Developer Update Livestream event due to take place on the official Diablo 4 Twitch and YouTube channels. The event will feature key developer talks and is scheduled to take place on April 20, 7 pm BST.
