Hightlights

  • Helltide Commanders appear in Helltide regions
  • They can be found in public events and roaming the map

Diablo 4's Helltide events are particularly deadly scenarios to find yourself in, especially if you come across one of the most deadly creatures in the game.

Helltide Commanders come in various forms and pop up in different places, but if you know where to look you shouldn't have any issue tracking one down - so here's what you need to know.

Locations to find a Helltide Commander

There are typically two ways you'll encounter a Helltide Commander: completing a public event in a Helltide region or finding Kixxarth, Helltide Assassin.

The first is easier to do, as public events are marked with an orange circle on the map.

When you join a public event, you'll need to complete the objectives listed for it. Doing so will draw out a Helltide Commander for you to fight. These are boss-level enemies, so be sure you are ready to face them before attempting this.

The specific public events you want for this are Portal Invasion and Those Who Call The Storm. Both of these are guaranteed to spawn Helltide Commanders. They can appear in any location, so you might want to cycle between public events until you find one of these two.

The other method as mentioned is to find Kixxarth, the Helltide Assassin. Despite the title, Kixxarth does indeed qualify as a Helltide Commander. Kixxarth has no fixed location, as it patrols the region seemingly at random. To find this one, keep an eye on your map.

Kixxarth appears on your map as an icon of a skull with horns. You're more likely to spot that icon on your map before finding the commander, watch the map as you traverse the Helltide region and you'll spot Kixxarth roaming around before long.
