Living Steel is an item in Diablo 4 that players need to summon Grigoire. This boss was introduced during Season 2, and people still farm it to obtain Unique drops to optimize and improve their builds. Obtaining Living Steel in the game is somewhat challenging, and takes a decent amount time.

New players who recently started playing Diablo 4 are unlikely to know how to get Living Steel and what it does. If you are one such player, my guide will come in handy.

In Diablo 4, you can get Living Steel from the Tortured Gift of Living Steel chests found in the open world in the Helltide-affected area during Helltide events

The chest doesn't appear on the map until you are near it, so run around the Helltide-affected area using your mount while keeping an eye on the minimap and your surroundings. Alternatively, you can use the 'Helltides' third-party website, which shares the chest locations and details on the Helltide events.

To open the Tortured Gift of Living Steel chest during Helltide events, you need 300 Aberrant Cinders, which you can earn by defeating enemies during the events. The chest is guarded by an elite enemy. So first you must defeat it, clear the area, and then offer the Aberrant Cinders to the chest to unlock it and obtain Living Steel.

What is Living Steel used for?

As mentioned earlier, Living Steel is the key item required to summon the end-game boss, Grigoire—The Galvanic Saint. You need two Living Steel to summon the boss in World Tier 3 and five in World Tier 4

Once you have the required number of Living Steel, head to the Hall of Penitent in Dry Steppes. Go inside, interact with the Light-Touched Altar and offer the Living Steel to summon the boss.
