Uber Duriel, aka Echo of Duriel, is one of the five end-game bosses in Diablo 4 that made their debut with Season of Blood. While you can enjoy the current season in Diablo 4 without ever fighting Duriel, for players who want to be prepared for the upcoming Abattoir Of Zir seasonal event, you must know how to summon and beat Duriel.

Similar to many other end-game bosses in the game, summoning Duriel is as challenging as defeating him, as it requires a lot of grinding. If you're unsure how to defeat this boss, keep reading our guide as we explain how to summon and defeat Duriel in Diablo 4.

In Diablo 4, you can summon Duriel using the Pestilent Altar found inside the Gaping Crevasse dungeon in Kehjistan. To use the altar, you need the following items:

  • Muckus-Slick Egg x2
  • Shard of Agony x2

Once you have the required items, make your way to the Gaping Crevasse dungeon. When inside, look for the Pestilent Altar and interact with it to open the "Ritual of Agony" menu, where you can submit the above items and summon Duriel.

How to get Muckus-Slick Egg

You can get Muckus-Slick Egg is one of the drop items that you can get from the boss, Echo of Varshan, whom you can summon at the Malignant Burrow using the Gurgling Head, Blackened Femur, Trembling Hand, and Malignant Heart.

Now, to obtain the items required for summoning Echo of Varshan, you must farm Grotesque Debtors that appear during Blood Harvest and collect some from the Tree of Whispers.

How to get Shard of Agony

You can get Shard of Agony as a drop item from Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint, whom you can summon at the Hall of the Penitent using five Living Steel

To obtain Living Steel, you must open the Tortured Gift of Living Steel chests dropped from Helltide events. Once you have enough materials, summon and farm Grigoire until you have the required number of Shard of Aogny for summoning Duriel.

How to beat Uber Duriel

Duriel's attacks in Diablo 4 deal massive poison damage that can take you out within a minute or so when the battle starts if you don't have good Poison Resistance. May it be the poison rain attack or the ones from his mantis claw, Duriel is an absurd boss when it comes to inflicting status damage.

The best way to beat Duriel is to improve your Poison Resistance through gear, Aspects, and Paragons. Once you are well prepared, summon and fight Duriel. He has three phases where he summons minions, uses melee attacks, and ranged attacks that you can easily avoid, as there's a lot of window for dodging and moving out of the way.

If you are using the right equipment that greatly increases your Poison Resistance, you will be able to defeat Duriel without any problem.

That concludes our guide on how to summon and beat Duriel in Diablo 4. While you are here, check out our guide on all Gems and their crafting costs and everything you need to know about Diablo 4's Vessel of Hatred expansion.
