If you’re picking up Diablo 4 on console, then you might be wondering what the performance is like, and the sort of resolution and frame rate to expect. While the Diablo series is mostly known for being dominant on PC, Diablo 4 is launching on console platforms simultaneously. This means those who prefer to kick back in front of the TV with a controller can get in on the demon-bashing action too.

However, this still begs the question of how Diablo 4 runs on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4, especially since the visuals on display are gorgeous this time around. So, keep reading to learn more about what resolution and frame rate to expect when playing Diablo 4 on either Xbox or PlayStation.

Perhaps ambitiously, Diablo 4 is launching on both last and new-gen consoles - an impressive feat given the game’s graphical fidelity. Nevertheless, there are a few caveats to consider on the older PS4 if you’re thinking about picking up the game there.

Platform Resolution Frame Rate
PS4 1080p 30fps
PS5 4K 60fps

As you can see, PS4 sacrifices in both the resolution and frame rate departments when it comes to running Diablo 4.

Meanwhile, the PS5 version looks as good as it can do, sporting a full 4K resolution and a frame rate of 60fps.

Moving onto Xbox platforms, we see an even more significant drop in resolution for the last-gen platform. Xbox One was famously slightly less powerful than the PS4, which is reflected in the way that it runs Diablo 4:

Platform Resolution Frame Rate
Xbox One 900p 30fps
Xbox Series S 1080p 60fps
Xbox Series X 4K 60fps

As displayed, the Xbox One slips below that trusty 1080p HD standard, and also drops its frame rate to a sluggish 30 fps. However, it’s still a bit of a miracle that the title is able to run on this decade-old piece of hardware in the first place, so we’ll take what we can get.

On the flip side, Xbox Series S knocks that resolution up to the standard 1080p, and also doubles up on the frame rate to 60fps, ensuring that the game feels as smooth as butter.

If you want the gold standard gameplay experience, you’ll need to shell out for the Xbox Series X version. Here, we see the same graphics settings as the PS5 mirrored with a 4K resolution and 60fps.

So, that’s everything you need to know about how Diablo 4 runs on consoles, including the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
