Classic Team Deathmatch is finally available in VALORANT. While VALORANT was built on plant/defuse-type modes, there has always been a demand for more casual modes like Team Deathmatch. Well, four years later, you can play Team Deathmatch in the game.

Team Deathmatch rules

VALORANT Team Deathmatch is a 5v5 game mode consisting of a race between two teams to be the first to 100 kills.

Econ isn't a thing in Team Deathmatch. Instead, each 9m 30s match is split into four stages. Each stage offers a selection of weapon loadouts that you can choose from at the beginning of the match or whenever you’re in the Spawn Room. When it's time for a new stage, your loadout will be automatically upgraded to fit.

Below is a list of the stages that make up a game of Team Deathmatch in VALORANT:

  • Stage I: Pistols
  • Stage II: Ares, Sheriff, Stinger
  • Stage III: Ares, Bulldog, Guardian, Spectre
  • Stage IV: Phantom, Vandal

To access more powerful weaponry, like the Operator, you must visit Weapon Spawners situated across the Team Deathmatch maps. Weapon Spawners are typically in neutral territory, so don't expect to grab these weapons without a fight.

Weapons from Weapon Spawners can vary from match to match. Weapon Spawner weapons are stage-specific and upgrade as the match progresses.

While traversing the maps in Team Deathmatch, you will also come across orbs. There are two types of orbs: Recovery Orbs and Ultimate Orbs.

Recovery Orbs restore Health and Shield over six seconds, and Ultimate Orbs boost the percentage of your Ultimate ability. Both orbs emit zones that your teammates can enter to leech the effects.

As for standard abilities, those are functional in Team Deathmatch too and will recharge naturally after use. The amount of time it takes for an ability to regenerate differs depending on the ability.

Each match of VALORANT Team Deathmatch grants 1,000 XP.

Team Deathmatch maps

The VALORANT Team Deathmatch maps are new, but they will still feel familiar.

Off the rip, Team Deathmatch features three brand-new custom maps inspired by existing VALORANT Maps. These maps might look familiar, but they are designed especially for Team Deathmatch:

  • Piazza
  • District
  • Kasbah

This is just the beginning of Team Deathmatch in VALORANT. Riot Games is open to evolving Team Deathmatch based on feedback, so give it a go and see how you like it. If Team Deathmatch is popular, additional content like new maps is sure to follow.
