God of War New Game Plus is an optional mode that's an incredible way to re-experience one of the finest among last-gen titles. With the release of God of War Ragnarok right around the corner, it's even more of an opportune time for those who've completed the first game to dive right back in - with the bonuses of New Game Plus to make playing through even more of a breeze, so you can enjoy reliving the story and its super-fun combat. But what exactly do you get to keep? From your original playthrough, here's everything that gets carried over in God of War New Game Plus.

God of War New Game Plus automatically unlocks after you complete the campaign. To play New Game Plus, all you need to do is select it from the main menu along with your desired difficulty. Even though enemies will be scaled up in combat ability appropriately, you'll be allowed to choose whatever difficulty you prefer for God of War New Game Plus no matter which you selected for your first playthrough.

As confirmed by the PlayStation blog posted during the mode's launch, God of War New Game Plus lets you keep armour, Hacksilver, skills, talismans, runic attacks, and weapons. The latter means that yes, you'll have the Blades of Chaos right from the start of the game - which is a great addition to add combat in the earlier sections of the game, especially with the higher difficulties.

God of War New Game Plus also adds Skap Slag, an exclusive resource that you can use to craft and upgrade higher levels of new equipment, including the best armor in the game.

That's a wrap on what gets carried over in God of War New Game Plus. If you're giving New Game Plus a try before playing God of War Ragnarok, be sure to check how long it takes to beat God of War first. If you're playing on PlayStation 5, take a look at what comes with the God of War PS5 upgrade
