If you've been playing a lot of God of War Ragnarok (who hasn't?) then you might have come across a few enemies with frosted health bars. This is a brand new mechanic introduced in God of War Ragnarok that can make enemies a little tougher to take down. Thankfully, breaking through that frosted health bar is easier than you think. Here's everything you need to know about frosted health bars in God of War Ragnarok.

God Of War Ragnarok: What Is Frosted Health?

Frosted health bars appear as another layer on top of an enemy's traditional health bar. Instead of the usual green bar, you'll see a pale blue pattern stretch across the length of the bar, indicating that this enemy has frosted health. Think of it like a shield layer of health that you have to break through before chipping away at the enemy's actual health.

If you attack frosted health enemies with the Leviathan Axe, then you're not going to get very far. The weapons in God of War Ragnarok have elemental effects, with the Leviathan Axe freezing things and the Blades of Chaos torching everything they touch. To whittle down an enemy's frosted health bar, you must attack them with the Blades of Chaos. Once you've broken through the frosted health barrier, you will be able to chip away at the enemy with whichever weapon you like.

God of War Ragnarok: Other Health Bars

Caution ahead for potential spoilers for the second half of God of War Ragnarok.

It's not just frosted health bars that appear in God of War Ragnarok. As you progress through the game, you may also encounter enemies with fiery or silver-looking health bars. These operate in the same way in the sense that you need to use a weapon with the counter-acting element to deal damage. For example, the Leviathan Axe will drain red health bars, while the Draupnir Spear will get rid of silver health bars.

Now you know how to combat frosted health bars in God of War Ragnarok. For more God of War guides, keep reading GGRecon.
