Curious about how many times you have to defeat Tyr to complete the Valhalla mode in God of War: Ragnarok? Yes, you can complete God of War: Ragnarok's new Valhalla rogue-like mode, but it will take a few runs to do it.

Tyr is the final boss of Valhalla, and each time you defeat him you are sent back to the start of the game to try again, so here is how many times you need to beat Tyr to finish the Valhalla story.

How to beat God of War: Ragnarok Valhalla

In total, you will need to defeat Tyr four times to complete the story of Valhalla. The fight with Tyr is his way of getting Kratos to reflect and think about his past. This is why it takes so many attempts, as inner peace isn't acquired quickly, especially for an ex-God of War.

The first time you fight Tyr he will use a Greek spear and shield combo. In the second fight, he appears to wield a Macuahuitl, a Mesoamerican weapon. In the third fight, Tyr busts out a pair of khopeshes, an ancient Egyptian style of sword. His final weapon is a katana from Japan, rounding out his world trip of iconic weapons.

Defeating Tyr for a fourth time will allow Kratos to open the doors and finally confront his younger self. With the story of Valhalla completed, you are free to tackle the mode as often as you want, and each time Tyr will wield a different one of his four weapons.

That is how many times you need to beat Tyr to complete the Valhalla story. For more, head to your God of War Ragnarok homepage for more Valhalla guides on how to upgrade stats, upgrade health and rage, and how to unlock the Blade of Olympus.
