God of War Ragnarok is a huge step up from the 2018 game, expanding on its worlds, Kratos' skillset, and its characters - including Atreus. Having gotten older and more adept at assisting Kratos in combat, players have been wondering if they will be actually able to play as the demi-god archer himself. Let's get into whether you will be able to play as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok.
- Here is how old Atreus is in God of War Ragnarok.
Can You Play As Atreus In God Of War Ragnarok?
Surely a pleasant surprise to many fans, yes, you can play as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok. Starting from The Path quest named "Old Friends", you'll be given control of Atreus in certain quests throughout the story. This does mean that you can't simply switch between Kratos and Atreus on the fly. However, when you are able to play as Atreus, you'll be given access to his own unique array of abilities, along with even more skills to unlock.
For example, along with abilities you will remember from God of War (2018), like the Runic Summon, Atreus also has his own spectral shield, bow abilities similar to Kratos' Runic attacks, and customisation options via armour accessories. This goes further in the additional skills in Atreus' skill tree - covering Instinct, Archery, and Aggression - all unlockable via spending XP earned over battle.
That's everything you need to know on whether you can play as Atreus in God of War Ragnarok. Whilst you're still playing the early stages of the game, find out how Frosted Health works, or the best skills to unlock at the beginning of the game.
