Fans of Adventure Time will love reading this MultiVersus Jake guide and learning about what the character has to offer. Finn’s wacky canine sidekick is a formidable opponent in MultiVersus and a benefactor of one of the best perks in MultiVersus. MultiVersus Jake Guide: Overview

Compared to other characters in MultiVersus, Jake is fairly straight-forward, with no passive abilities. As a Hybrid Bruiser, his job is to charge powerful attacks and hit his opponents hard in any direction. Some of his best kill options include a down-air off stage or a charged grounded up-normal to catch opponents moving through the air.

Jake’s most important move by far is his forward-air. He can angle his forward-air in any direction and charge the move to make his punch go further. With this attack, he can safely poke opponents from a distance while also forcing them off stage and setting up edgeguards. Similarly, he can use the attack to assist teammates from far away in 2v2s.

MultiVersus Jake Guide: Specials

Jake’s neutral-special in MultiVersus is called 'Rubber Stomach, Dude!'. With this move, he can swallow enemies and allies alike and spit them out as projectiles. Enemies will be spit out with maximum stacks of the Weakened debuff, while allies will come out of his mouth with armor.

For his side-special, 'Giddy Up!', Jake transforms into a galloping horse for a brief period of time. By letting go of the special button, Jake can cancel out of the move at any time. In addition, his allies can ride on his back like a platform in order to approach far-off opponents.

Jake’s up-special, 'Stretchin’ Out', causes his body to stretch high into the air and deal damage to opponents, with Jake being able to angle his body in different directions. When the move is complete, the lower half of his body will snap up towards the top half, dealing additional damage. Meanwhile, enemies can only knock him out of the attack by hitting his vulnerable head.

Finally, Jake can transform into a house, boat, or car and fall to the ground with his down-special, 'That’s Heavy, Dude'. This move reflects projectiles and causes other fighters to bounce off of Jake. If an ally bounces off of Jake, the move will emit an additional projectile that can damage the opposing team.

MultiVersus Jake Guide: Perks

The first signature perk Jake unlocks in MultiVersus, 'Sticky', briefly stuns opponents whenever he hits them with his up-special. As a result, they will be more susceptible to the move’s follow-up hitbox. His other signature perk, 'Stay Limber, Dude', causes him to bounce back into the air after landing on the ground with his down-special.

The best Utility perk for Jake is 'Leg Day Champ'. This perk provides him with a 10% boost to his jump height, which aids his aerial mobility. Meanwhile, the Offense perk 'Lumpy Space Punch' grants him a 5% damage boost to his aerial attacks. This is particularly helpful considering how integral Jake’s forward-air is to his playstyle.

Finally, Jake’s recommended Defense perk is ‘Toon Elasticity'. This perk causes him to bounce off of the ground, walls, and ceilings with 20% less velocity. With this perk, Jake will be less prone to follow-up combos after bouncing off of a surface, and will also be able to survive longer on stages like Scooby’s Haunted Mansion.

MultiVersus Jake Guide: Combos

While Jake’s combo game is somewhat lacking in MultiVersus, he is still capable of stringing multiple hits together. By transitioning from his grounded side combo into an up-normal finisher, he can launch his opponent into the air and try to follow up with a neutral-air or up-air.

Additionally, hitting a down-air on stage will pop Jake’s opponent into the air. Depending on their percent, he could then follow up with a quick aerial like a neutral-air, or charge a forward-air to catch an opponent who has been launched higher into the sky.
