Stuttering in CS2 is an issue that's carried over from CS:GO for some players, and while most PC players will have hardware more than capable of running the game, it still seems to be affecting many players.

Update drivers

A classic reason that performance in a game is subpar is due to your graphics drivers being out of date, meaning you need to update them. You can do this from the manufacturer's website, or programs like GeForce Experience for NVIDIA users and AMD Radeon for AMD users.

Lower settings

For those a bit unfamiliar with how PC gaming works, you have more options for customising graphics and settings than on consoles, and it may be the case that your settings are too high for your hardware to handle. 

Using preset graphics can be a good way to gauge how high you can have them, but we recommend starting with the lowest settings and then working up from there. 

Change launch options

Launch options are settings that are applied when booting up a game on Steam, and you can customise this somewhat.  

1. Open Steam and right-click CS2 on the library
2. Select 'Properties' and then click 'Set Launch Options'
3. Paste the settings you want into the box and click 'OK' before loading CS2 back up

• If you want to improve FPS, paste the following without the speech marks: "+fps_max 0 -nojoy -high -fullscreen +mat_disable_fancy_blending 1 +cl_forcepreload 1 -limitvsconst -forcenovsync +r_dynamic 0"
• If you want better performance overall, past the following: "-tickrate 128 +fps_max 0 -novid -nojoy"
