Destiny 2 Maelstrom: Completing the first step

The first part of Maelstrom's quest has two parts; you need to complete activities like patrols and public events in the Vex Incursion Zone, and also bond with two Strand sources.
This can all be done in one area, but which area that is rotates every day. The Vex Incursion Zone is the location of the Terminal Overload activity, so check your map and head there.
The first part is fairly straightforward, use your Ghost to find patrols, then grab them and complete them. Collecting resources also grants progress, so you might want to put a mod on your Ghost that shows nearby resources. If you spot any gold patrols, definitely do those as they give you more progress than regular ones.
The other part can be a bit difficult. Strand sources appear in the Vex Incursion Zone, for use during Terminal Overload. The zone could be in any of the three locations, and there are many places around each area where Strand sources can appear.
The most efficient way to get Strand sources bonded is to load directly into the current Vex Incursion Zone, run around looking for Strand sources, and if you do not see any, return to orbit and try again.
Strand sources can be difficult to spot from a distance, but once you get close to one you will see a star icon on your HUD, with a thirty-second timer beside it. This is a Strand source, so grab it and look for a second one to complete the quest step.
- For a super powerful upgrade, you should get yourself the Destiny 2 Two-Tailed Fox catalyst.
Destiny 2 Maelstrom: Completing the quest

The rest of the quest is relatively simple. The next step is to complete the Lost Sector in the current Vex Incursion Zone. As this rotates, which Lost Sector it is will depend on the day. Thankfully, we have all Destiny 2 Lightfall Neomuna Lost Sectors locations marked and easy to find if you haven't been to them yet.
Head to the Lost Sector and complete it, then return to the Hall of Heroes to reconstruct Maelstrom's memorial. Once that is done, speak to Quinn to complete the quest.
That is it for the Destiny 2 Maelstrom quest. For more on the game, check out our Destiny 2 Synchronic Roulette guide.
