If you opened up a PS5 on Christmas Day or even grabbed a few games over the past few weeks, you may have run into one of many error messages. The console can be notorious for stopping players in their tracks as they want to jump into their favourite game, which can be annoying, to say the least.

One such error message players have reported is WV-109156-2, and seems to be specifically affecting players launching EA-related games. If you’re one of the players running into these annoying issues, here’s how to fix the error code WV-109156-2 on your PS5.

Firstly, you may notice this issue stems from playing an EA title. This includes titles such as Need for Speed Unbound, FIFA 23, and more. If you’re eager to jump into your game and keep hitting the WV-109156-2 error code with the message “something went wrong”. Unfortunately, your only option is to accept the message which closes the game.

It seems to be a communication problem between your PS5 console and EA, but thankfully, there are a few workarounds that users have reported. If you want to fix the WV-109156-2 error code, try the following methods:

  • Disable your 2-Factor Authentication in your EA Account settings and see if this rectifies the problem.
  • Log into the EA website by using your PlayStation account. Once you have gained access, reload your game to see if the issue is fixed.
  • If you’re still running into the issue, visit the EA Help page and accept the new terms and conditions. This has been reported to fix the issue.
  • If all else fails, perform a hard reboot on your PS5.

EA has reached out on Twitter and claimed they are working on a fix for this issue. Until then, these methods should provide a temporary workaround until a fix has been implemented.
