Is Helldivers 2 co-op? Multiplayer & crossplay support explained

There's nothing better than playing a great co-op game with your friends, and you might be wondering if Helldivers 2 will be co-op, and what (if any) multiplayer support the game will have.

Below, we'll explain Helldivers 2's multiplayer functionality, how it can be played with friends, and whether it has crossplay and cross-progression - so read on to find out more.

Will Helldivers 2 feature multiplayer co-op?

Yes, Helldivers 2 will be a co-op game through and through, as it was built with co-op in mind.

You'll be able to play online with up to four players, but there's no local co-op available. That means you won't be able to take part in couch co-op, split screen play.

The lack of a local co-op might be a disappointment to some, but it's still great news that it will feature a fully functional co-op online mode.

Does Helldivers 2 have crossplay & cross-progression?

Helldivers 2 will feature crossplay between PC and PS5. You'll be able to play with friends on both systems regardless of which platform you're using.

However, we're not currently sure whether the game will have any kind of cross-progression, which is the ability to save progress on one platform and pick it back up on another.

The team hasn't stated whether this will be possible yet, but at least we know for sure that crossplay will be a feature in Helldivers 2. As and when more details arise, we'll be sure to update you accordingly.
