The Riven's Wishes questline in Destiny 2 is a great way to get some decent rewards ahead of the launch of The Final Shape, if you have the time to work through it. While we all wait for the final big expansion for the game, Bungie is keeping us going with tasks to complete and rewards to unlock.
Riven's Wish quests are weekly, but thanks to the info out there we already have the steps required to complete each step, so here are all of the objectives and the rewards you will receive in the game.
How to begin Riven's Wishes
To get started with Riven's Wishes, you need to visit Mara Sov at the H.E.L.M. You'll be told that Riven has left her final instructions with the queen, and she can pass them on to you. Speak to Mara if you have not done so already, and you will receive the Riven's Wishes I quest.
There are six Riven's Wishes quests to complete, but at the time of writing this, there are only four available. This is because the quests are released weekly, with two more quests to be added in the coming weeks. You don't have to complete one quest to unlock the next one, so feel free to wait until the sixth quest launches so you can complete them all in one go.
How to complete Riven's Wishes
Each stage of the Riven's Wishes questline has its own set of objectives. Once you have done as asked, you will be prompted to return to Mara Sov and turn in the quest. She will reward you with a Wish Token, which you can then redeem for one of several rewards she has on offer.
These quests will remain available from when they are added until the launch of The Final Shape, so don't worry about missing out.
The full list of six quests and their objectives are:
Quest | Objectives |
Riven's Wishes I |
Complete the Rift Generator public event in The Strand in the Dreaming City (3 regular completions or 1 Heroic), then complete Dreaming City activities, challenging activities grant bonus progress |
Riven's Wishes II | Open Ascendant Chests located in the Dreaming City, the Ascendance buff from Tinctures of Queensfoil is required |
Riven's Wishes III | Defeat combatants within Legendary or Master Lost Sectors, more progress granted in the Dreaming City |
Riven's Wishes IV | Defeat enemies in the Blind Well, and complete a Tier III Blind Well activity |
Riven's Wishes V | Defeat Taken bosses or minibosses in Rheasilvia, or defeat Pauurc, the Farseer's Heir, also located in Rheasilvia |
Riven's Wishes VI | Complete each encounter of the Prophecy dungeon |
Riven's Wishes rewards
There are three categories of rewards that Mara can provide: deep-sight resonance (red border) weapons from the Last Wish raid, exotic armour from the last year, and a miscellaneous category which features exotic resources and mementoes from previous events.
You only get one Wish Token for completing one of Riven's Wishes, meaning there are a maximum of six tokens you can acquire. Each item costs a single token, so you will need to choose wisely. Thankfully, you don't need to spend them straight away as the Wish Tokens and their rewards will be available until TFS launches.
Personally, I think that six tokens is not a lot considering the rewards available. If there are exotic armour pieces you still don't have then this is a handy way to get them, but no less work than completing some Legend Lost Sectors.
The resonance weapons from Last Wish are a great option, but considering you need five red borders of a single weapon to craft it, that means your six Wish Tokens could be largely used up on one weapon. The best options in the final category are the mementoes if you don't already have them, but even still it isn't very enticing for the grinding you have to do to complete these quests.
If there were more tokens available, or if the exotic armour was guaranteed high-stat (they are, but not high enough to warrant a token), this would be a more interesting prospect. If there are any items available that you specifically need then this is a fine method to get them, but in general, there isn't much to Riven's Wishes to get excited about.
