If you're a little bored of your Sparrow and want to try something new, the new Destiny 2 hoverboard Allstar Vector Skimmer might be up your street.

Below, I'll show you how to get your hands on your very own Skimmer so you can patrol the game in style. There's a way to unlock it permanently - despite Guardian Games being a limited event - so if you'd like to get your own just keep reading.

How to get the Allstar Vector Skimmer

Before unlocking the permanent Exotic version of the Skimmer, you'll first need the regular one. All you need to do is complete a few quick mission steps  - specifically, complete the Best in Class tutorial found at Eva in the Tower.

After completing Best in Class, you should then receive the basic version of the Allstar Vector Skimmer. Unlike the Exotic one we're gunning for, this common version will expire at the end of Guardian Games, so you'll want the better one.

After completing Best in Class, you can get the Drop In quest from Eva. This quest has multiple objectives, but you actually only need to complete one of them. I've listed the objectives below:

  • Earn 1,200 Medallion Score
  • Earn a top 10% score in Nightfall chalenges
  • Open your Focus Activity winners packages (3 times)

If you choose to go for the Medallion Score, you'll need to play a lot of Guardian Games. Dump points into the podium to receive score, and after accumulating a score you'll eventually unlock this.

A quicker method, if you're skilled enough, is the Nightfall objective. You'll need to complete the current Nightfall strike and get a top 10% score, so if you've got people to play with who you can grind this out with, I recommend this objective. However, it can be frustrating if you can't quite get enough score in the Nightfall.

Finally, you can choose to open three Focus Activity packages. This is an easier way to unlock the Skimmer if you're not as skilled at Nightfalls, but requires you to play the Focus Activity when it appears for a limited time. Keep an eye out for when the Focus Activity comes into play, then play it enough to open your chests.

Additionally, if you don't mind spending real money, you can simply buy a Skimmer from the store. It's pretty expensive though (2,500 silver).
