Destiny 2 Essence of Dawning is a resource you will need throughout the holiday event. Destiny 2 holds the Dawning every year at this time, to mark the end of the year with some holiday cheer.

Essence of Dawning is a universal resource in the process of cookie baking; you will need many different ingredients for different recipes, but Essence of Dawning is required for all of them. Here is how to get and how to use the resource in the game.

What is Essence of Dawning?

Essence of Dawning is a crucial ingredient for the Dawning event. The main activity of the Dawning is using the Oven that Eva Levante gives you to make cookies for each of the other characters in the game. There are different cookies that require different recipes, and each character has their own preference.

Regardless of what kind of cookies you are making, the one ingredient they all require is Essence of Dawning. For each batch of cookies you make, you need to add fifteen Essence of Dawning. As such, you will need to gather this important resource in large quantities if you want to make cookies for all of your friends.

How to get Essence of Dawning

Essence of Dawning is ubiquitous in the Dawning, you need it for everything so you get it from everywhere. As such, you can stock up on Essence passively as you play whatever activities you like. If you are specifically trying to gather Essence of Dawning, there are some things you can do to maximize your gains.

While each activity does award Essence, they do not all grant the same amount. The most efficient options involve bringing some friends along. If you are playing solo, then running Vanguard Ops is your best bet. It isn't the quickest way, but it is consistent.

If you do have some friends, you can use the Witch Queen campaign farm. If you are not familiar, a common method of farming materials is to play through a mission like The Investigation. Right before the end, have one team member swap their character to save the checkpoint.

Then, you can use that checkpoint to repeatedly load the team into the end of the mission and finish it over and over, quickly getting the rewards.

For a less convoluted method that can be much quicker, complete Legend Lost Sectors as a team. Typically, Legend Lost Sectors are tackled solo for the exotic armour, but there is nothing stopping you from going in as a team.

Completing these Lost Sectors rewards you with 16/17 Essence of Dawning, and a team of three can quite easily complete a Legend Lost Sector in under five minutes.
