Big sword fans will be pleased to know that the best early weapon in Lies of P is the Greatsword of Fate - the signature weapon of the Path of the Sweeper Class. If you were given a different starting weapon by picking a different class, you can still buy those of other classes from the Wandering Merchant - the merchant you meet on Cersani Alley shortly before the Parade Master boss fight.

Why is the Greatsword of Fate the best early weapon in Lies of P?

Although all starting weapons are adequate for taking out standard enemies, the Greatsword of Fate is the best for early-game Lies of P because of its higher damage and most importantly, defensive capabilities for the Parade Master boss fight. 

As mentioned in our Parade Master boss fight guide, the ideal way to beat this hulking puppet is by executing perfectly timed dodges. However, the Greatsword of Fate makes up for when this cannot be the case. 

The Parade Master's attacks vary, some covering a wide area that makes dodging unavoidable - with guarding your only answer. 

Not only does the Greatsword of Fate provide the highest Damage Reduction Rate while Guarding stat of 65.37, but its Fable Arts are also the most fitting for this particular boss. Along with Absolute Defense being able to perfectly block an enemy's attack Link Slash is a powerful but versatile move with less cost to initiate. 

What's more, with Parade Master's slow speed after some attacks, utilising the Greatsword of Fate's high Physical Attack stat with well-timed swings makes this the best early weapon in Lies of P by far.
