While most of us are taught that size doesn't matter, that seemingly isn't the case for Insomniac Games when it comes to the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The follow-up to 2018's Spider-Man and 2020's Miles Morales is a bigger and better affair - emphasis on the bigger part of that one.

After the unprecedented success of Spider-Man, Insomniac quickly started work on a sequel. Delving deeper into the lore of Web-Head, we're promised a darker sequel thanks to Candyman's Tony Todd voicing Venom. The slippery symbiote is the focus of the next chapter, and that's rolled over into the Spider-Man 2 Collector's Edition.

Spider-Man 2 Collector's Edition goes viral over Venom

Insomniac has been promoting the pricy Spider-Man 2 Collector's Edition, which comes in at a hefty $229.99/£219.99. It boasts a Steelbook case (although a digital game code), early suit and gadget unlocks, and the rest of the Digital Deluxe content. The big selling point is a statue of Peter and Miles versus Venom.

Being told to "Treat yourselves to 19 inches of Venom," it sounds like plenty of you are ready to be wrecked by Venom in more ways than one. It's clear someone on the marketing team knew what they were doing here, as the tweet soon went viral.

One joked, "I don't need 19-inches of anything, I'm just fine with what I have," while another added, "I'll determine if it’s actually 19 inches or not…" A third chuckled, "Treat myself?? don't gotta tell me twice 👿" The joke seems to have gone over some people's heads, with them asking why PSUK would tweet this. Oh, we know why!

Do we know who Venom is in Spider-Man 2?

A girthy 19-inch Venom statue might look great on your shelf, but that's no use if you don't know who's under there. The mystery of the person behind Venom is still being kept a closely guarded story secret, although many think it's not that hard to figure out.

Both the end of Spider-Man and Miles Morales teased a connection between Venom and the MIA Harry Osborn. With Harry officially appearing in Spider-Man 2, a cryptic line of dialogue about changing the world, and some sneaky concept, all signs point to Insomniac taking a swing from the comics to make Harry the big bad.

Sony is clearly on the assault for flogging the Spider-Man 2 Collector's Edition boxes, but be warned, they're already popping up on eBay for extortionate sums. So, it appears plenty of you think you can handle all 19 inches of Venom and are willing to pay a pretty penny to do so.
