After being held to ransom, a huge amount of information has come from Insomniac Games and revealed details about the studio's upcoming titles.

Aside from Marvel's Wolverine, Insomniac's projects have been purposefully kept under wraps. The leaks have revealed a lot about the company's plans, including a brand-new Ratchet & Clank yet to come - but huge news has touched down about the future of Insomniac's web-slingers.

Spider-Man 2 Online has leaked, and it's coming next year

In a pretty shocking turn, Insomniac Games' leak has revealed that the single-player focus of the team's Marvel games could be about to be left in the dust. It looks like devs are working on a multiplayer mode for the critical giant that was Spider-Man 2.

Among leaks of an upcoming X-Men project that will hopefully stem from the launch of Marvel's Wolverine, it has been revealed by new roadmaps that Spider-Man 2 is potentially receiving its very own online mode at some point in 2024.

The breach also leaked a Venom expansion or spin-off game, so fans are scratching their heads as to how this project will sit in the calendar of Insomniac's projects. In Insomniac's own words, Spider-Man 2 Online will launch as "Multiplayer 1.0" and expand into Multiplayer 2.0 and 3.0 with Wolverine and X-Men Online, respectively.

What do Insomniac's multiplayer plans mean?

"Multiplayer 1.0-3.0" is curious because the roadmap seems to indicate that Multiplayer 3.0 will encompass both of the separate multiplayer modes that have come before it. There is a chance that X-Men Online coming in 2028 means both multiplayer worlds will come together.

Imagine players taking up the moniker of a slew of mutants and Insomniac's Spider-Men - but of course, this can only be speculation for now. Remember, it wasn't long ago we heard about a potential Spider-Verse title. There's also a (seemingly) cancelled multiplayer called The Great Web, which backs up previous whispers of an Insomniac multiplayer title

We'll have to wait and see how Insomniac reacts to the leaks to determine if any of these has any real validity, but in the meantime, we're left with some incredibly compelling implications. We suppose we'll see you at Xavier's School.
