Two Insomniac Games writers have confirmed what the future will hold for the Marvel’s Spider-Man games after the surprising ending of Spider-Man 2.

As Peter has seemingly stepped away from the Spiderman spotlight for a bit, Miles Morales will be stepping up in future games to stop the bad guys who are so set on taking over New York.

Miles Morales will be the main focus of future Insomniac Spider-Man games

In an interview with Gizmodo, Insomniac Games' Brittney Morris and Ben Arfmann confirmed that Miles Morales would be the main Spider-Man in future games.

This comes after Spider-Man 2 surprisingly saw Peter step back from the role, to recover after a rather emotionally turbulent instalment in the franchise.

“It always felt very natural,” Morris told Gizmodo in reference to Miles taking the reins, “and I think we all collectively thought it would happen.

“To me, it shows a great deal of evolution from Miles; at the beginning of the game, we see him struggling to figure out what he wants to do with his life. By the end, we had Miles carrying the burden of saving the city, and also carrying Pete when Pete wasn’t strong enough to carry himself at various points.

After facing as much emotional turmoil as Peter does throughout Spider-Man 2, it is no wonder that he needs to step down from being the friendly neighbourhood Spiderman the city has grown to know.

Morris said: “That’s what’s been so cool about writing a story about two Spider-Men: they’re both strong, and one of them can be strong when the other is not. By the end, Miles is more confident and he’s like, “Yeah, I got this. How much worse can things get after what we just went through?””

Arfmann echoed this sentiment in his own answer, saying: “The idea of a two Spider-Man story was always really essential to this game.

“I think pretty early on, we knew that we wanted to have that moment of handing the reins over. And as we developed it, it just felt more and more right.”

It will be exciting to see Miles step up and take chagre in future Insomniac Spider-Man titles, though it islikely that we will still be seeing more of Peter too, even if it is in a supporting role.
