The story isn't done just yet, with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 ready to weave a new web of intrigue. Insomniac Games delivered another certified hit with a sequel to 2018's Spider-Man, and like the OG, we're expecting a DLC to pick up where we left off.

Even if Insomniac hadn't been struck by a massive ransomware attack that revealed everything from upcoming games to DLC plans, we'd guessed a DLC would be on the way. Despite the first game polishing off the Sinister Six and Spider-Man 2 introducing Venom, Spidey's packed rogue's gallery means there are plenty of options.

SPOILER WARNING: Spider-Man 2 spoilers ahead

Spider-Man 2 concept art seemingly spoils its DLC villain

Like how Spider-Man's The City that Never Sleeps DLC focused on Black Cat, Hammerhead, and Silver Sable, we're hoping for another diverse roster of villains. We've previously covered how Janice Lincoln/Beetle is tipped to be the big bad of the DLC, and now, concept art has seemingly shown her in action.

After an in-game bug spoiled the surprise of Beetle spreading their wings, the concept art of Beetle has appeared on Imgur. It shows off a metallic suit with insectoid wings and an iridescent colour scheme. It looks like another modern reimagining of this comic book staple.

The concept art seems to show off a female Beetle, further hammering home it'll be the Janice Lincoln or Leila Davis version of Beetle instead of Abner Jenkins (the first Beetle in the comics). Fans love the design, with many praising Insomniac for revamping an obscure character from the comics.

The question is whether Insomniac will follow the same route of the first game and have a three-part DLC or stick with just one story. Spider-Man 2 only scratched the surface of Cletus Kasady/Carnage, but it's unclear whether he'll get his own DLC or be saved for Spider-Man 3.

The ending of Spider-Man 2 neatly cued the return of Doctor Octopus, teaming up with Norman Osborn and presumably leading to the long-awaited debut of the Green Goblin. Concept art from the cancelled Spidey multiplayer teased Green Goblin, arguably Spider-Man's most iconic enemy, and he makes sense to round off the trilogy.

Insomniac is sticking with comic book capers for the upcoming Wolverine, while the potential of the X-Men has us hopeful for the Marvel Gaming Universe to finally get off the ground. Whether the Spider-Man 2 DLC will tease Wolverine remains to be seen, but either way, we can't wait to suit up once again.
