As more players experience its many spectacles from beginning to end, many will be wondering what could come next in any potential Marvel's Spider-Man 2 DLC. With the three-part City That Never Sleeps DLC first coming out just a month after the original game, it's easy to wonder about if and when we'd see any more downloadable content for SM2.

Based on what we've seen in one particular set of Spider-Man 2 missions, what we would most likely see in post-launch story content is abundantly clear. So, let's get into what we want and expect to see in potential Marvel's Spider-Man 2 DLC.

SPOILER WARNING: This guide contains story spoilers for the events of "The Flame" side story in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, so be sure to proceed at your own caution.

What we want in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 DLC

The most likely direction for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 DLC is the rise of Cletus Kasady and the Carnage symbiote, which were both confirmed as a part of the Insomniac universe following the end of The Flame side story missions in the game.

Only known up to that point by the side story's namesake, The Flame succeeds in his cult's mission to derail a train and obtain a symbiote being transported from Oscorp. Turning red in its container in The Flame's hands as he recites one of his passages, he not only utters the name "Carnage", but the symbiote itself soon reveals its signature blood-red colour.

After The Flame escapes and the mission ends, Yuri aka Wraith says she'll start tracking him down by looking into his old aliases, including "Cletus Kasady" - confirming the known psychotic murderer from Marvel Comics now has what he needs to become Insomniac's take on the iconic villain.

Why Cletus & Carnage is most likely in SM2 DLC

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 DLC featuring Cletus Kasady and Carnage is the most likely because the side story around The Flame is the only plot remaining from the game that appears incomplete. After Kasady obtains the Carnage symbiote in its container and Yuri starts her hunt to find him again, we never hear any mention again even beyond the credits - making the whole story arc feel like the first of a two-parter, perhaps one where Cletus finally merges with the symbiote to become Carnage.

Yes, there are some developments towards the end of Spider-Man 2's campaign which planted narrative seeds for what comes next. However, as covered in my ending explained and sequel predictions guide, these are more for bigger developments that could only really fit in a new game like a Spider-Man 3 or a second Miles Morales spin-off.

Not only that, but Yuri's big role in The City That Never Sleeps DLC makes Carnage in SM2 all the more likely as well. The entirety of The Flame side story, including all of the development Yuri goes through as Wraith, is a follow-up to what happened to her in the previous DLC against Hammerhead and his mob - all being separate from the game's main campaign.

Because of this, it only makes sense that any potential DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 fits the same story structure that could see Yuri's character arc come full circle - overcoming the vendetta and trauma that's plagued her since before and during The City That Never Sleeps, by finally stopping The Flame in the form of Cletus Kasady-Carnage, as a fully-fledged hero.

That's everything you need to know about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 DLC, covering what we want and expect from any potential post-launch content.
