League Of Legends: Is Project L Free To Play?
The League of Legends fighting game Project L is currently in development, but Riot Games has confirmed whether or not the game is free to play.
Players that are looking forward to the upcoming Project L might be wondering if it will be free to play. Project L is an upcoming fighting game from Riot Games that pits its popular League of Legends characters into 2v2 battles. However, Riot Games has a history of making its games like Valorant free-to-play. Will Project L also be free to play?
- Hopefully, Project L won't have a hard-to-use character like Bel'Veth on the League of Legends roster.
Project L: Is It Free To Play?
When the game eventually releases, you'll be able to play Project L for free, just like League of Legends and Valorant. Similar to other free to play fighting games like MultiVersus and Brawlhalla, there will be a full roster of champions in the game from day one.
"One of our goals is to remove as many barriers as possible from you enjoying Project L," said Tom Cannon, the Senior Director and Executive Producer of the game in a development update video. "We want you to be able to play no matter where you live, what your skill level is, or how much money you have to spend on a game."
- Would you be down to see multiple costumes of Udyr like his old and new looks from League of Legends come to Project L?
Project L Free to Play: Monetisation
No official details have come out about the Project L Free To Play Model as of the time of writing. However, if Riot's previous games will remain the standard, we can expect to see different costumes, character tokens to unlock new champions, and a possible battle pass, similar to a game like MultiVersus. There may be a free rotation of champions to pick from and then you gradually unlock new characters with earned in-game currency.
Riot Games is planning to support Project L for many years after the game releases, so the company likely has a monetary model in store for players of the fighting game.
"Our goal is to build a super high-quality fighting game that the FGC can invest deeply in, playing for years or even decades," said Cannon in an official blog. "That takes time to get right, and we’re not going to rush it."
Hopefully, when Project L is finally available on PC, we'll see it featured during EVO, one of the most popular fighting game tournaments in the world.
