With the Hogwarts Legacy character creation, it is possible to make your protagonist look like the boy who lived. Follow our guide here to get as close as possible to reliving your Hogwarts experience as Harry Potter.

Disclaimer: While the creator of the Harry Potter franchise was not directly involved in the creation of Hogwarts Legacy, their comments on social media around transgender people are hurtful and dangerous given the size of their platform.

We’d implore you to read our explainer of the controversy so far, and consider supporting trans rights charities where possible.

Best settings to make Harry Potter in character creation

As you'll be attending as a fifth-year student, we've decided to try our hand at recreating Harry Potter from The Order of The Phoenix film.

Presets

Within the first menu, start by selecting any masculine portrait – almost everything about it will be changed later.

Facewear

In the next tab select the third preset along and pull the skin colour slider to the far left to get that pallor look of fifth-year Harry. Despite the fact he spent all summer outside in the books, in the movie, Harry was unusually pale, possibly due to his sickly connection to the Dark Lord.

Last but not least, select the first glasses option to get the iconic round glasses of Harry Potter.

Hairstyles

Move to the next tab. Here, we want to capture the unkempt appearance of Harry's hair from the fifth film. Scroll down and select the option on the second row from last, third along. This has the fringe and untidy vibe we need for Harry.

Make sure the hair colour is set on the fourth option from the far left, this will make his hair brown-black as opposed to pure black from the books.

Complexion

In the next tab, you will be able to apply scars and freckles. Unfortunately, there is no lightning bolt-shaped option. The closest thing we could find is the eyebrow scar on the bottom row. Harry has little to no freckles so put the slider to the far left. For complexion, we opted to put some heavy bags under his eyes, so choose the far-right option on the slider. (He has, after all, been dreaming about Voldemort all term).

Eyebrows

For the 'Eyebrows' tab, select the second from the left option to get some thick, straight brows. The eyebrow colour should match his hair and for eyes, choose the fourth option from the right to get those bright blue eyes. (A controversial take if you're a fan of Harry's green eyes from the book, but necessary if you want that Daniel Radcliffe look).

Finalise your character

You're almost set, just flick to the last tab, and enter his name. Here, you can also set the game difficulty and choose how deep or squeaky you want his voice to be. We chose the pitch option second from the left but feel free to make Harry as comically squeaky as you wish.
