The most recent update to Fortnite has arrived, bringing some new items like the Shield Bubble Jr. while also bringing back the Drum Gun - but this time it's a bit different. Below I'll outline where you can find the new Drum Gun that's famously used by Midas, including if it's worth using in your loadout.

Chapter 5 Season 2 is all themed around Myths and Monsters, featuring some of the biggest names from Greek mythology including Zeus and Hades in the Battle Pass.

Korra will also be arriving this season, meaning there will be even more powers introduced into the game - and with that in mind, is the Drum Gun worth all the fuss?

Where to find the Drum Gun

You’ll find the Drum Gun using the good old-fashioned method of searching and looting because it's a regular drop. However, it's only available as a Rare weapon or higher - so it won’t drop as frequently as some others.

Thanks to the increased rarity of the weapon, you’re going to be better off finding it in Weapon Bunkers, God Chests, and Rare Chests.

There's nothing to say you won’t find the Drum Gun elsewhere, but focusing on those particular spots will certainly increase your chances.

Is the Drum Gun any good in Fortnite?

The reintroduced Drum Gun is now an SMG, but it still uses medium ammo. So, if you want an SMG that will do some serious damage you will love this weapon, but you’re going to burn through the same ammo used in your AR very quickly.

I often use an AR and a DMR if there isn’t a decent sniper around, so a loadout with all three would require increased attention on managing ammunition - especially late on in a game. For this reason, I'd still opt for a Harbinger SMG if I were to carry one, but the Drum Gun is a very effective alternative.
