Weapon Bunkers are brand-new locations in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, and they house one of Fortnite's most useful appliances: Mod Benches.

If you want to customise your guns with attachments in the latest season of Fortnite, you'll need to visit a Weapon Bunker. This guide includes everything you need to know about them, including where to find them and how to open them in the game.

What are Weapon Bunkers?

Weapon Bunkers are tiny underground shelters containing Mod Benches. You can find a few rare weapons and Rare Chests inside them, but more importantly, these hideouts are the only place on the Island where you can upgrade and mod your guns with the help of one of these benches.

Altogether, there are nine Weapon Bunkers scattered around the Island. These Weapon Bunkers are mostly on the outskirts of the map, just outside major Points of Interest (POIs).

You'll find Weapon Bunkers at the following locations:

  • East of Lavish Lair
  • North-east of Reckless Railways
  • South-east of Reckless Railways
  • West of Mount Olympus
  • South of Fencing Fields
  • South of Pleasant Piazza
  • South-west of Grim Gate
  • South-west of The Underworld
  • South-east of Rebel's Roost

When a match begins, the doors to all the Weapon Bunkers are sealed tight. However, midway through the match, right after the second Storm Circles closes, several bunkers will open up. Weapon Bunkers fastened by chains will remain closed, though, so only a select few are accessible per game of Fortnite.

When a Weapon Bunker opens up, you'll receive a ping directing you to its location if you're anywhere nearby. They'll also be revealed on your in-game map and minimap, so you can easily figure out where you need to go to utilise a Mod Bench.

While this is handy for helping you find them, it also means any other remaining players are notified of their locations too. In more than a few games, I've found myself ambushed by opponents already inside the bunkers, or had enemies trapping me inside after I've entered by throwing Clingers - so be careful!

That's the basics of Weapon Bunkers in Fortnite. When the second Storm Circle closes, keep an eye out for nearby bunkers about to open their doors. And if you have enough Gold Bars and a suitable weapon, pay it a visit for access to one of the game's Mod Benches, plus some free loot!

Mount Olympus, Grim Gate, and The Underworld are all new to the Island in Chapter 5 Season 2, and there are new weapons like the Thunderbolt of Zeus and Wings of Icarus, too! Get all the latest Fortnite news and guides on our Fortnite homepage at GGRecon.
