NPCs are interactive characters you can find across the Fortnite map, letting you purchase weapons and items or even challenging you to a duel to earn XP and rewards.

There are plenty of characters to encounter in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, but considering how big the new map is, you may struggle to simply stumble across them - so here's where you can find them all.

There are now 23 friendly characters on the map, with Apollo and Graveheart being the latest additions. Aang, Zuko, Katara, and Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender will only be around while that collab runs.

If previous seasons are anything to go by, more NPCs will likely be added as Chapter 5 Season 2 progresses.

What do NPCs do?

Talking to NPCs in Fortnite will fill out your character list - which is great if you're a completionist - but you can also purchase high-tier weapons or healing items from them as long as you have enough Gold Bars.

Some NPCs offer special services like giving you a prop disguise to hide in or activating a rift to send you into the sky so you can glide across the map. A few characters, like Artemis, can also be hired as bodyguards for the remainder of the match.

All bosses in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

Aside from the friendly NPCs listed above, there are also four boss characters you can encounter in Fortnite right now: Hades at The Underworld, Cerberus at Grim Gate, Zeus at Mount Olympus, and Ares at Brawler's Battleground.

Unlike previous boss fights in Fortnite, you'll need to summon these characters by interacting with glowing statues that represent them. These can be found on podiums at their base locations like in the screenshot below.

When summoned, each boss will send out a wave of enemies that need to be eliminated before they'll appear themselves. Make sure you come prepared with a loadout of decent weapons, healing items, and maxed-out shield where possible.

It's worth the effort, as defeating them will reward you with a powerful Mythic weapon and a Medallion that grants a unique power. For example, Ares' Medallion will add damage to ranged weapons while Cerberus' Medallion lets you dash in the air.

Just remember that holding a Medallion will also give away your location to other players, so it's no good carrying one if you're trying to be stealthy!
