The Myths & Mortals saga has finally hit Fortnite as Chapter 5 Season 2, with an epic bunch of updates in the latest patch notes for the game.

Entering an Olympus-themed era, the new Fortnite update brings legends like Hades and Zeus into the third-person shooter, with a whole bunch of new weapons, items, maps and more you won't want to miss out on.

Battle Pass Skins

With the Myths & Mortals Battle Pass brought in by the Fortnite patch, priced at 950 V-Bucks, you'll get access to the following Olympian Outfit skins as confirmed on the game's recent news post

  • Artemis
  • Aphrodite
  • Cerberus
  • Hades
  • Medusa
  • Poseidon
  • Zeus

What's more, Avatar Korra from the namesake Last Airbender sequel series will come to the Battle Pass later in the Season as well; we don't have a date for her just yet, but I'll update this guide as soon as I know.

Mythic Weapons

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 has also added a handful of awesome-looking Mythic weapons with the imbued powers of the gods who wield them:

Thunderbolt of Zeus

By using Zeus' Thunderbolt, you'll be able to soar into the air and throw lightning at your enemies. You only get three charges with a cooldown between each one though, so you'll need to use them wisely.

To get the Thunderbolt of Zeus, you can find it across the land or by defeating the god himself.

Gatekeeper Shotgun

Cerebus' Gatekeeper Shotgun is a hard-hitting weapon that's ideal for short-range with its three shots. To get the Gatekeeper Shotgun, you can get the regular version across the Island, but you'll need to defeat Cerberus for the Mythic variant.

Harbinger SMG

Hades' Harbinger SMG seems fitting for the god of death - firing a flurry of bullets to take down as many foes as possible. To get the Harbinger SMG in Fortnite, you can come across the regular version across the Island, but you'll have to get the Mythic variant by defeating Hades.

Huntress DMR

A stunning weapon to inflict major blows from a distance, the Huntress DMR is the weapon of moonlit hunt goddess Artemis that's nothing to snuff at.

In a bit of a twist compared to the other Mythic weapons, whilst you can still find the regular Huntress DMR across the Fortnite Island, you'll have to defeat Zeus to get the Mythic version.

Warforged Assault Rifle

Probably my favourite amongst the new weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, the Warforged Assault Rifle packs high damage, rate of fire, and recoil - just what you'd expect of Ares, a weapon fit for the god of war.

You can find this weapon across the Island or defeat Ares for the Mythic variant.

Wings of Icarus

Not only does Fortnite Myths & Mortals bring you new guns, but also the power of flight in the Wings of Icarus. You can't fly for too long due to the risk of your wings burning up, but you can use your time in the skies to quickly traverse the land or divebomb enemies.

You won't need to defeat a god to get this one, look across the land to get this Mythic power.

Chains of Hades

The god of death's namesake weapon will be coming to Fortnite in Chapter 5 Season 2 at some point, though there's no release date for that just yet. Again, I'll be updating this guide as soon as I know more.

Weapon mods

Adding to the brand new Mythic weapons in the new Fortnite season are the Thermal Scope and Speedgrip weapon mods.

Whilst the Thermal Scopes doubles your view plus has a thermal effect, the Speedgrip mod will increase your movement speed whilst aiming.

Weapons from last season

If you're still fond of the weapons from last season, you'll still be able to bring the following Season 1 weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2:

  • Frenzy Auto Shotgun
  • Hammer Pump Shotgun
  • Nemesis AR
  • Ranger Pistol
  • Reaper Sniper Rifle
  • Thunder Burst SMG

Map locations

So that battles in the new Fortnite season are right on theme, the new patch for Chapter 5 Season 2 will also include the following new map locations:

  • Mount Olympus
  • Grim Gate
  • The Underworld
  • Brawler's Battleground

Ranked Zero Build - NA matchmaking test

To shorten queue times for Ranked Zero Build players in North America, this Fortnite update also included a test of routing the NA-East and NA-West matchmaking regions to that of NA-Central.

If successful, this will become the long-term fix to keep queue times from being too long.

More ranked updates

Epic Games has also made the following updates to Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build in the new season:

  • Tweaking progression in the upper ranks, making it harder and additionally rewarding to reach Unreal
  • Surviving without taking damage will no longer grant points
