How to get the Modern Axe in Sons of the Forest
The Modern Axe is a tool in Sons of the Forest that can be used for both utility and attack. Unlike the starter axe, the Modern Axe in Sons of the Forest is more powerful and can chop down trees with significantly fewer strokes. Where is the Modern Axe in Sons of the Forest?

The Modern Axe is located on a body in an abandoned camp south of the beach spawn point and west of the snowy mountains, shown in the image above.
When you enter the camp, walk towards the body near the centre tent. The Modern Axe should be here to pick it up.
Which is the best axe in Sons of the Forest?

So far, there are only three axes in Sons of the Forest, but as the game is still in early access this is subject to change.
There are no upgrades for the axes and each one excels at different stats. The main two stats for the axe are speed and strength, indicated by the coloured bars when you highlight one of them in your inventory.
Red represents damage, green is for speed, and yellow shows how effective the axe defence is.
As such, the Modern Axe falls into the mid-point between the axes and is a good option for both speed and strength. For higher damage, the Firefighter Axe is a good option and the Tactical Axe is the fastest in the game currently.
