In various quests delving you into intense spellcasting duels against students and dark wizards, Hogwarts Legacy is home to some epic fast-paced combat. However, sometimes a bit of stealth is needed during the game, so let's get into how to do the equivalent of a stealth kill.

We’d implore you to read our explainer of the controversy so far, and consider supporting trans rights charities where possible.

How to do a 'stealth kill'

First and foremost, this isn't technically a 'stealth kill' per se, it's more of a stealth takedown by using the stunning spell, Petrificus Totalus. Nevertheless, it's still permanent in terms of gameplay combat and is essential for situations where you need to be discreet whilst fighting nefarious enemies.

To perform the spell, you'll first need to mask your presence with an invisibility spell and crouch to make yourself completely quiet. Then, gently sneak up on an enemy and press the Square button (X on Xbox/X on PC) as prompted on the screen.

You'll hear your character cast Petrificus Totalus, and your target will fall and lie on the ground like a stiff board. Of course, you could still perform a stealth takedown without the invisibility spell by sneaking up from behind whilst crouching, but it's still best to do this whilst invisible to remove the high risk of being easily spotted.
