How To Fix Dead By Daylight Initialization Error
Due to the number of different potential causes of the Dead by Daylight initialization error, there are different solutions for each problem, which we will detail below.
As alluded to when pointing the problem out, if the initialization error is routed in the server side of things it is unfortunately completely out of your control. The best thing you can do if this is the case is just to sit it out and wait for Behaviour Interactive to deal with it on their end. Furthermore, if it is an issue with the wider platform networks, you can also monitor the status of those to keep up to date.
Conversely, it is rather simple to fix the issue with file corruption. If you have a problem with your persistent storage on Xbox, all you need to do is head to the Xbox console settings and select the clear persistent storage option.
Alternatively, if you’re on Steam, your best bet is to delete your game folder and enable Steam cloud saves so it forces the game to the latest version. Once you’ve done that you’ll be free to redownload and hopefully enjoy playing again.
Lastly, to fix the corrupted firmware issue, your best bet is to perform a power cycle for your console. If it was a firmware related problem then your game should be ready to go after this.

What Causes The Dead By Daylight Initialization Error?
There are a couple of different reasons why you might be encountering the Dead by Daylight initialization error, some of which you can fix, but others you, unfortunately, cannot.
The most common cause of the Dead by Daylight initialization error is sadly completely out of your control as it is to do with server issues. Either your general platform servers are down, or there are issues with the specific Dead by Daylight servers that are denying access to the title.
There could also be an issue with your copy of the game though, and that comes in two forms. If you’re running the game on an Xbox One physical copy your persistent storage could potentially be corrupted. Furthermore, the same issue could happen with your game files on Steam.
In a more general sense, if you are playing on console, you could be running into some corrupted firmware files that need to be reset.
