2022's r/Place may have officially came to an end, but Felix "xQc" Lengyel still has a lot to celebrate after breaking his peak viewership record during his livestream of the April Fools' event.

The subreddit r/place has dominated the internet over the past few days. Reddit users and content creators have battled it out to show off their artistic flair and create some beautifully pixelated pieces. As part of April Fools' Day, r/place set up a digital blank canvas, where users from all around the world could place a tiny pixel every five minutes to help build incredible, and occasionally controversial, images.

Numerous content creators battled it out to get their own piece of the canvas and livestreamed their experiences of the event. However, it was xQc who came out on top, besting his own peak Twitch viewership in the process

xQc Breaks His Twitch Viewership Record

During xQc's livestream of the r/place event, his eagle-eyed fans noticed that he had pulled in a record-breaking number of concurrent viewers. Previously, the Canadian streamer's peak viewership was just over 220k, which he reached in April 2020 thanks to the VALORANT beta key drops. However, his r/place livestream peaked at a whopping 293l viewers, knocking his previous record out of the park.

xQc's stream certainly had some highs and lows. For example, there was the moment when his image of a woman's rear end up censored by Reddit moderators not once, but twice. Not to mention, the numerous 'battles' he found himself caught up in between competing French and Spanish streamers.

r/place 2022 Is Officially Over

r/place 2022 was definitely one for the Reddit memory books. While it was certainly chaotic, there was some beautiful moments. For example, some users were able to beautifully recreate the climactic fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith as well as the cover art for Elden Ring. There was also a heartfelt moment when a number of content creators came together to create a memorial for the late streamer Byron "Reckful" Bernstein.

Speaking about r/place, xQc said: "I just enjoy doing it, I think it's fun to make things kinda different. I think it's fun. It gives everybody something to… it makes everybody feels something, and it made people rebuild and build sh*t."

2022's r/Place piece may have now been erased, but you can view a screenshot of the final piece here:

xQc may have been knocked from the top of Twitch's charts by Elden Ring and Lost Ark streamers earlier on in the year but it is clear from this most recent r/place madness that the one time Overwatch pro is still a huge draw. And he could be on the way to smashing even more records with his long-mooted 90-day subathon looking more likely by the day.
