While Uber has been our lifesaver in times of need, there can be issues. Like every company, there can be the occasional bad apples, as Valkyrae experienced during her New Year's Eve celebrations.

Throughout 2021, Rachel "Valkyrae" Hofstetter has spent a great deal of time creating fantastic new content across her streaming channels, including holding a Christmas charity event, in which one generous viewer donated $200,000 for the cause. However, it has also been a tough year for the 100 Thieves co-owner, especially following the huge backlash after she launched her skincare range. So, understandably, she wanted to make sure she had a good time waving goodbye to 2021.

However, one unfortunate Uber ride, left the streamer feeling particularly "unsafe". While it didn't appear to dampen her festive spirits, it obviously left her feeling pretty shaken up.

What Happened During Valkyrae's Scary Uber Ride?

On January 1, Valkyrae stated on Twitter: "Dude I’m in an Uber and driver has been preaching about why he will never wear a mask and talking about being anti vax and I just sitting here hoping I get back home." She then further explained that even though she had ticked the "quiet preferred" option in the app, the driver proceeded to rant about his anti-vax views for the entire 30 minute drive.

After having already been terrified from getting "lost in the dark" during the evening, Valkyrae claimed that the Uber driver had only made her feel even more anxious and "unsafe". So much so that she was afraid to speak out against him in case "he might do something" like "kidnap her" or "take [her] to another country."

What Did Valkyrae Do On New Year's Eve?

Valkyrae welcomed 2022 alongside her fellow stream superstar Jeremy "DisguisedToast" Wang. However, it was on her way to meet DisguisedToast at the OfflineTV house that she had her frightening experience with the Uber driver. Valkyrae explained that she had been spending the evening at Lily "LilyPichu" Ki's house before she was due to meet Toast across town. As she had been drinking, she decided to get an Uber, which subsequently lead to her scary experience.

Despite the incident, Valkyrae didn't appear to let the Uber ride get in the way of welcoming the new year with open arms and celebrating the evening with her nearest and dearest.
