The galaxy far, far away, is bigger than ever right now, and we don't just mean because of the myriad of movies that were announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023. With Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor just over the horizon, it looks like the sequel is going with the mantra of bigger is better.

Cal Kestis is back for more, and while the OG only came out in 2019, the gaming industry has moved on a lot since then. With a new generation of consoles to play on, Jedi: Survivor's download size is bigger than your average Mythosaur. Well, if you're swinging your saber on PlayStation.

What is the Jedi: Survivor download size?

As reported by WccftechJedi: Survivor has a chonky 147.57GB download size on PS5. Things are narrowly better with Xbox Series X's 139GB. If you didn't bother shelling out on the top-of-the-range Xbox console, Series S owners are gifted with just 44GB of download space on the smaller console.

Why Jedi: Survivor is three (yes, three) times larger on Xbox Series X has us stumped, as it's unprecedented to have such a massive leap between consoles. For example, Modern Warfare 2's base install was 52.1GB on PS4 and 62GB on PS5.

It's good news because the Xbox only has 512GB of onboard storage compared to the Series X's 1TB SSD. When you remember the Series S only has about 364GB of usable storage, the smaller Jedi: Survivor download size is a welcome surprise.

We're yet to see what Jedi: Survivor is packing under the hood regarding graphical enhancements and modes, but note that the Series S has a maximum 1440p output and usually runs at 1080p. We'll have to wait and see whether Respawn explains the massive difference in sizes, but it’s likely due to the resolution of the game’s textures

Jedi: Survivor is a truly new-gen game

While Sony has vowed to keep making last-gen gamesJedi: Survivor is one of the first AAA titles to ditch its last-gen ports. We've already seen how Hogwarts Legacy has been held up with PS4 and Xbox One versions, whereas Jedi: Survivor is charging headfirst into new-gen.

Gotham Knights abandoned last-gen but was still criticised for feeling like a cross-gen title, while Capcom dished out a last-gen Resident Evil 4 remake but left Xbox One players out in the cold

Jedi: Survivor definitely looks like it'll pack a punch in the graphics department, but be warned, your storage is going to pay the price for it. As for those booting up the 155GB on PC, good luck!
