Jedi: Survivor devs want to remake a classic Star Wars game next
The sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is finally right around the corner, and we feel like we need a reintroduction to Cal Kestis.
It's been a hot minute since we stepped into his boots, and now, he can apparently grow a beard. To be honest, we're not sure how we feel about that, to be honest.
The game's long-awaited sequel, Jedi: Survivor, has finally unveiled its previews, with those who've played it saying it's better than its predecessor in almost every way. The devs might've done a great job of bringing Cal into the next generation, but now, they're eyeing up what they want to do next.
Jedi: Survivor's team wants to remake an obscure Star Wars Classic
Speaking to the team at Respawn Entertainment, GamingBible discovered that there are hopes to remake some classic Star Wars games. Senior Producer Blair Brown has a deep cut of a pick to bring to the modern gaming industry.
"I love Dark Forces," he says. "Yeah. Old school FPS. Yeah, I love that game. I don't know if it would hold up right now if I played it but I'd love to see something like that."
Dark Forces is one hell of a throwback, releasing for MS-DOS and Mac first in 1995, then coming to the PS1 the following year. The game follows merc Kyle Katarn, who joins a covert subdivision of the Rebel Alliance to infiltrate the Empire.
Interestingly, this isn't the first we've heard of Dark Forces, with whispers of a remaster doing the rounds last August. Even though it hasn't come to pass yet, we demand more from Katarn - especially as Dark Forces kicked off the Jedi Knights series. Dark Forces isn't all that Respawn is after.
Jedi: Survivor's design director wants a new podracing game
Adding to this suggestion, Jedi: Survivor's Design Director Jeff Magers throws a new idea into the ring - "Maybe a new Podracing game," he says in jest. It could be a joke, but damn, would we absolutely lap up a new game that features the breakneck speeds of Podracing.
Respawn is already looking at a third Cal game to make this a trilogy, but beyond that, staying with the galaxy would be a treat for those who've come to love the team's work. Whatever is next from the Jedi gang, we can guarantee it'll be fascinating if the previews for Jedi: Survivor are anything to go by. We will definitely take that Podracing game, though.
