Gen 9 is upon us, and as we're poised to open up our maps to explore Paldea, there's a lot going on in the Pokeverse right now. There are critiques that we've moved too quick from Sword and Shield's Gen 8, while the Hisui region of Pokemon Legends: Arceus passed us by in a flash. Still, there's a lot of hype about what's next for Pokemon.

As with any new generation of Pocket Monsters, fans are dying to know about starter evolutions, regional variations, and Legendary Pokemon. We already know Koraidon and Miraidon will be rideable Legendaries in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but is anyone buying that they're the only deities ready to make their mark on the franchise?

How Many Legendary Pokemon Will Scarlet And Violet Have?

In fresh leaks from Riddler_Khu and Centro Leaks, Riddler_Khu gave a cryptic tease of four new Legendary Pokemon that will have something to do with the four towers we've seen scattered across the Scarlet and Violet map.

Centro Leaks has then interpreted the community's theories on what the notoriously cagey leaker meant by their post. Although we're taking this with a pinch of salt, the four new Legendaries could be based on the Four Dragons of ancient Chinese myths. Riddler_Khu have the initials of the four, suggesting they'll be tied to the White Pearl Dragon, the Yellow Dragon, the Large Great Dragon, and the Black Dragon.

Despite potential dragon roots, none of them will apparently be Dragon-type Pokemon. Riddler_Khu weirdly teased a sushi-inspired Dragon Pokemon recently, but apparently, it has nothing to do with this quartet of Legendaries. Instead, they're thought to be like the Legendaries of Pokemon Sun and Moon.

When Will We Know More About The Legendary Pokemon?

Previously, we're heard about a third Legendary that'll join Koraidon and Miraidon. Riddler_Khu (again)  said that understanding three Buddhas. Linking back to previous whispers of time travel themes, they talk about the Burning Lamp Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Maitreya Buddha. Burning Lamp Buddha is the Buddha of the past, while Maitreya Buddha is the Buddha of the future. It's reasonable to speculate on a third Buddha.

Heading all the way back to Gen I, we've been used to three Legendary Pokemon thanks to Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. Still, it's hard to figure out where these other four fit into things. With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet out on November 18, we don't actually have that long to wait. Along with the final starter evolutions, a full reveal of the Gen 9 Legendaries is sure to be a major part of the game's marketing.
