We love a good bargain, but when it comes to the world of collecting Pokemon cards, that's even more rare than a Pikachu Illustrator card. Although Pokemon TCG is just as popular as ever - with new cards still being released - it's nothing compared to the collectable scene.

While the Charizard ex (Special Illustration Rare) card from the Pokemon 151 set will only set you back $112, we can only imagine what it could be worth in the future. After all, Logan Paul's infamous Pikachu Illustrator card is valued at a cool $5.275 million. Now, eBay is giving you the chance to nab a piece of history.

Pokemon Day is just around the corner, with the annual February 27 celebration honouring when Pocket Monsters Red and Green was released in Japan back in 1996. It's a chance for Pokenerds to bask in the franchise's success, but also, for companies to make a quick buck off the hype.

As part of Pokemon Day 2024, eBay is having a 24-hour sale dubbed "Catch 151." In case the name didn't give it away, it's a celebration of all things relating to the original 151 Pocket monsters from Bulbasaur to Mew, running from 12:01 am EST on February 27 until 12:01 am EST on February 28.

The hook here is that all auctions will start at just $1.51, meaning you could technically grab a real bargain. We doubt anyone will be able to snatch a rare Pokemon card for that low, low, price, but give it a go. Among the headliners are Charizard and Blastoise cards from the Base Set First Edition.

Considering this kind of Blastoise card has previously sold for $360k, that $1.51 price tag will easily be left in the dust. Other highlights include Base Set First Edition Venusaur, Mewtwo, and Zapdos. More modern collectors have a chance to snatch the elusive Pikachu Van Gogh card.

If you're still trying to shift your binder of Pokemon cards that are still taking up space in the attic, fear not. There are a slew of other pricey Pokemon products going on sale for just $1.51. Among them is the classy Tiffany x Pokemon collab that we previously said was the most expensive we've ever seen.

If you have some spare cash, the Fendi x Pokemon collection also goes under the hammer. While we wait to hear what Game Freak has planned for Pokemon Day, you can tune into eBay's Catch 151 extravaganza, which comes accompanied by a stream that gives you a closer look at some of these rarities.
