Pokemon 151 has finally arrived, giving TCG collectors a stunning lineup of Illustration Rare and Hyper Rare cards to discover, so here are the most valuable cards you can pull from the set.

Bridging the gap between Obsidian Flames and Paradox Rift is the long-awaited Pokemon 151 set. This is a special expansion that features the entire lineup of OG Pokemon from Red & Blue’s Kanto Pokedex, so you’ll be able to find everything from Bulbasaur to Mew inside.

While collecting all of the 151 base cards will no doubt be the goal for many fans, there are also plenty of rare cards to discover beyond that number, from Illustration Rares to Ultra Rares, Special Illustration Rares, and even golden Hyper Rares. There’s a lot going on here!

Whether you’re looking to collect 'em all or you just want to pull the rarest cards, we’ve rounded up the most valuable cards you can get in the Pokemon 151 expansion based on current market prices.

What is the most valuable Pokemon 151 card?

It probably won’t come as a surprise to see that the Special Illustration Rare Charizard ex card remains at the top of the list of most valuable cards. The other two Kanto starters, Blastoise and Venusaur, also made their way into the top three - a spot that used to be occupied by the Erika Special Illustration Rare. (Sorry Erika, the starters simply have too much power over market prices).

Most of the Pokemon 151 cards featured in the table above have seen a drop in market value since launch day, but some have gone up in value. The Illustration Rares of Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur have seen some improvements, presumably because people want to complete the full set of starters - each one has a trio of matching artworks!

One of the most in-demand cards from the Japanese version of the Pokemon 151 expansion was the Special Illustration Rare Mew, but in the English version that card is only available as part of the Ultra-Premium Collection - not in booster packs - which explains why it’s not featured on the list above.

While these market values are accurate at the time of publication, it’s important to remember that these prices will likely fluctuate quite a bit over the coming days and weeks as people discover which cards are the hardest to find and hype for the expansion starts to die down. Still, you should be able to get a pretty solid idea of which cards are going to be the most valuable and hard to find from the table above. Happy hunting!
